Case Study: ROCK AM RING 2026
TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR ONE OF EUROPE'S BIGGEST ROCK FESTIVALS
Client: U-NEED GMBH
Location: Nürburgring, Germany
Event type: Rock festival
Scope: Stagehand services, followspot operators, forklift operators
Team: 64 people
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Rock Am Ring is one of the largest and most recognised rock festivals in the world. Held near the Nürburgring in the mountainous Eifel region, it draws tens of thousands of visitors from across Europe every year.
Our role in this project was to provide technical support throughout the entire festival preparation process, from the first assembly work through to full dismantling after the event. Over 10 days, 64 people worked on site.
It is a project where operational precision and the ability to work in demanding weather conditions go hand in hand.
We built this event side by side with U-Need GMBH and once again confirmed that partnership in action matters just as much as the competence of the team itself.
OUR ROLE
We provided a 64-person team responsible for assembly and dismantling work during festival preparation. The team consisted of stagehands, followspot operators and forklift operators.
Stagehands supported work on the stages and in the technical backstage area, handling the movement and positioning of structural elements, stage equipment and production gear. Followspot operators managed directional lighting during the live broadcast. Forklift operators ensured the transport of heavy equipment and materials across the entire site.
Our work was coordinated with the production schedule so that successive crews could move into their positions without interruption.
KEY OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES
The Nürburgring sits in mountainous terrain, which directly affects working conditions. Weather can change several times in a single day. Heavy downpours arrive without warning, the sun can be intense, and strong winds create real difficulties for work at height and equipment transport.
Over 10 working days, each of these situations required an immediate response from the team: adjusting the pace of work, securing equipment and reshuffling the order of tasks.
At productions of this scale, the assembly schedule is tightly linked to the rehearsal schedule and the opening of gates to the public. The flexibility and experience of the team allowed us to maintain the planned work pace regardless of what the day brought..
WHAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE
We delivered this project together with U-Need GMBH and it was that collaboration that set the rhythm from day one. A clear division of duties and responsibilities, combined with effective communication between teams, meant that even in difficult moments everything kept moving forward.
The key was thorough preparation for changing conditions. Work was planned with potential weather breaks in mind, and communication across all areas ran without a hitch.
Every decision made on site had a direct impact on how the festival unfolded. Efficient equipment transport, precise work from the followspot operators and the dedication of the stagehands all came together to deliver a production completed on schedule.
Assembly and dismantling were finished within the planned timeframe. Over 10 days, work ran smoothly and the team maintained full operational readiness throughout the entire preparation period.
WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERED
Rock Am Ring confirmed that reliability and team experience count regardless of the scale or nature of the tasks involved.
Working on international open-air festivals in mountainous terrain demands resilience in changing weather, flexibility in execution and experience working under time pressure. Our team met those demands, providing full support throughout the preparation period.
It is also worth remembering that a solid technical foundation is what makes any event a success, at any scale.
